Loneliness

My thoughts on loneliness during a long solo drive at sunrise this morning:

Loneliness is an illusion of ego and a magnificent gift.

Loneliness arises from disconnection from our higher self and the universe. We feel it when we’ve become detached from our own self-love. It arrives when our hearts have closed, and our ego has created the illusion that it comes from something external that is missing.

But without this sharp edge of loneliness between our true self and ego, we don’t look for the deep meanings. We don’t look beyond the ego and what lies behind it- our greatest divine energy, our soul, our prana. We don’t plug back into the great cosmo and remember we are too made from star dust, that we are all one. We just become further disconnected from our truth and grapple even harder for external fixes that never do the job.

Because of this, loneliness is a magnificent gift. It pushes us to depth, to inner awareness and connection. It pulls us back into ourselves, wraps us up in a big cozy blanket, and helps us become whole again.

It may hurt. We may feel unworthy and unhappy but when we can look at it as a signal- a lesson of sorts, and find our worthiness, we also learn what true self-love and compassion looks like. We can reconnect to our higher self and overcome ego. We can open our hearts fully again.
